Lady Rattlers end season with big win over Morgan State

Lady Rattlers dominate Morgan State, 88-57

The FAMU Lady Rattlers ended their 2011-2012 regular season with an 88-57 win over Morgan State, become only the forth FAMU women's basketball team to finish with 21 wins.

The Lady Rattlers earned 21 wins in 1995-96 (21-7), 1987-88 (21-9) and 1985-86 (21-8). The highest number of regular season wins a Lady Rattler team has ever amassed is 24 which was accomplished by the 1994-95 team that finished 24-6.


During the Morgan State game, the Lady Rattlers were led by Jasmine Grice scored a team high 20 points from off the bench, followed by Tameka McKelton with 16, while Kimberly Sparkman finished with 10. Both Qiana Donald and Antonia Bennett finished with a double-double for the Lady Rattlers as Bennett finished the game with 15 points and 12 rebounds and Donald tallied 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

FAMU men fall to Morgan State, 74-68

The Bears defeated the Rattlers (8-22, 6-10 MEAC), by a score of 74-68, to end the regular season.

Amin Stevens scored a game-high 32 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field. He had one three-pointer and 11 rebounds to complete his double-double. Jeremy Dean was the next highest scorer for the Rattlers with eight points.

The Rattlers shot 37.7 percent form the field for the game. They also hit on 18-of-28 free throws for a 75 percent average.
