The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) awarded Antonia Bennett (Guard/Forward, 6-1, Sr., Lakeland, Fla.) Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance against Bethune-Cookman University this past Saturday.
Bennett has been the leading scorer in the conference for most of the season, but her well-rounded game has garnered her multiple defensive player of the week honors as well. While Bennett leads the conference in scoring with 18.9 points-per-game, she often is not needed to put up big numbers in the team's concept that has been successful for the Lady Rattlers this season. To date, the Lady Rattlers are on a 12-game winning streak, and first place in the conference.
Bennett grabbed 23 rebounds, tallied three blocks and nine steals to aid the Lady Rattlers to a 2-0 record last week. She was two steals shy of a triple-double with 24 points, 14 rebounds, a career-high eight steals and three blocks against Delaware State. Offensively she totaled 36 points, while shooting 7-of-10 from the free-throw line, in two games.
Bennett also leads the conference in defensive rebounds with 7.016 per game.
